Jaguar is a diverse company, comprising three major areas of business activity:



Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce

Director, Strategic Programs (1986 - 1990)

Innovation: Completely redesigned the services directed to Small Businesses. New programs included those for enhanced social networking, education, peer-level support and recognition.

Information Technology: Administering a 30-station, mixed environment (DOS & Macintosh) Novell local area network. This included specifying, purchasing, training and supporting several software applications. The network supported five separate non-profit corporations.

Director, Economic Development (1985 - 1989)

Marketing: Marketing the attraction & retention of businesses in greater Saint Paul.

Innovation: Completely redesigned the mission and function of a department which was moribund and poorly respected in the community. The result was an organization that became was the leader in important aspects of community ecenomic development.

  • Established a focus on international business development.
  • Filled a massive need for a focus on community-wide economic development, rather than working exclusively in the City of Saint Paul.

Management: Proposed, raised funds, enrolled 20 communities and 40+ businesses, and incorporated the Metro East Development Partnership (below).

Information Technology: Established a database of: prospective development sites; industrial and commercial buildings for sale or lease; and office, showroom, warehouse space available for lease in the entire greater Saint Paul area.



Metro East Development Partnership, Inc

Founder & Executive Director (1987 - 1989)

The Partnership was essentially a marketing and management organization, dedicated to promoting development in the greater Saint Paul area, and helping member communities plan for their development strategies.

Marketing: Created and executed all phases of the marketing plan, including media advertising, collateral materials, bus tours, a community resource library, and a trade show. Marketing a collection of communities was a unique and interesting challange, balancing the needs of each with those of the greater community.

Management: Performed strategic planning consulting to some of the member communities to develop their own marketing and development plans. Facilitated meetings of business, political and community leaders to develop a common vision for the community.

Innovation: The Partnership became a model for a munti-community economic development organization, and was widely immitated around the region.


Storer Cable Company

Marketing Director (1985)

Marketing: Created the marketing plan of this new cable TV system to change strategy from door-to-door sales to direct-mail and media. The marketing budget was $1.2 million per year.

Management: Managed a department of 20+ Customer Service representatives.

Innovation: Started a peer-group association for joint marketing of Cable TV services in our respective communities and in the greater Twin Cities area.



NBI Computers, Inc.

Sales Representative (1983 - 1984)

Marketing: Sold one of the earliest networked personal computer systems.



Control Data Corporation

Various Positions (1977 - 1983)

Marketing: Performed all marketing functions for a secondary market research service aimed at a small business market.

Marketing: Performed all marketing and sales support functions for a litigation support service subsidiary.

Marketing: Performed market research and marketing strategy for a line of information services products for the small business market for a management consulting subsidiary.

Marketing: Created, marketed, and administered an international trade show, together with a small administrative group (three years).

Information Technology: Developed a user-friendly shell to make it easier for users to retrieve information from the on-line information service.

Marketing: Sold, then responsible for marketing an international technology transfer database to communities for economic development and to businesses for new product development. In the marketing role, I completely repackaged the product offering and all aspects of marketing and advertising. the result was the first-ever profit for this subsidiary company.

Information Technology: This was one of the first on-line information services in the world.
